Contouring Your Face

Contouring your face can be a bit confusing. This article is here to help you understand what you need to do in order to make facial contouring easy. It all starts with your palette.

To contour your face you need just three colors and a highlighter. One for shading, one for blusher, and one skin tone powder. The shading color can be a really dark brown, to a light bronze. Just make sure to use it as lightly or heavily as needed. The blush should be a natural color that compliments your color. The skin tone powder is self explanatory.

First, you need to apply the powder all over your face and neck, if needed. This first step helps to create a nice, matte surface.

Contouring is the second step. This is a very precocious step that requires you to be very careful and very light with your application. It is much easier to make a tone dark as opposed to lightening it. Suck in your cheeks, dip your brush into your dark color, and tap off the access. Hold the brush far from your face and very gently swipe in into the hollow created by the sucking in of your cheeks. Blend this color with a clean brush once you have gotten it as dark as you want, which should be fairly light. You can also apply it beside your nose to make it look a bit smaller. Use a very light application here.

Blush is next. Smile and start from the apples of your cheeks and follow the brush backwards. This should be extremely light. If it is too dark, it will look garish. You need to make sure you are using a color that compliments your skin tone.

Last is the highlight. Apply just above your blush and blend. Also apply on your nose, chin, philtrum (little dent right under your nose) and forehead. Pretty much anywhere any light would fall.
