Acne is not something new to most of us. Many people and especially teens find this a very annoying and a very embarrassing problem. While there are some decent treatments for acne issues, not everybody has the time or the money to go for many of these specialized programs.
However, apart from going to your dermatologist for help, you can take help from these remedies. Here are a few of them.
- Do not pop acne pimples - While you might have heard this several times from several people, it is the most common mistake that anybody with acne makes. As far as possible, you should try not to squeeze or even touch your acne, especially so with dirty hands. If you think squeezing out the puss will solve your problem then you are mistaken; it will only give rise to more. It will make your healing process extend even longer as well.
- Keep your face clean - It is very important to maintain a proper hygiene for your face. This will not only help to clear up your acne but also prevent any new breakouts. Using soap-free and oil-free cleansers will also help.
- Keep your face moisturized - After you wash your face, always remember to moisturize it well with a good brand of an oil-free moisturizer. If you keep your face moisturized, your skin will not need to produce that extra oil and hence, that will make it less prone to breakouts. There are plenty of oil-free moisturizers in the marketplace. You just need to find one that suits your type of skin and the severity of your acne.
- Take proper precautions - Don’t always go for any new product that might make big claims or have a big name. It is important to be sure before you start using any product. You can use topical creams for this problem. However, make sure that you are not allergic to any by first using it on a little part of the face, such as behind the ear.
- The acne fighters, like benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid are very effective in healing acne, but they do cause skin dryness. When you use them, follow-up with a good moisturizer that is free of oil, but has good moisturizing properties. Sometimes a good, natural-based moisturizer like aloe vera would be a good choice.
When nothing seems to work…..
Remember, any remedy will take some time to show results. Sticking with a regimen for at least 6 weeks is recommended to start seeing results. Therefore, do not give up so easily. Give it some time. However, if nothing seems to be working for your type of acne, even though you are waiting enough, then it might be time to schedule a visit with your dermatologist who might be able to help.
